    This was the original of the Alessandro chain and at the time that I went it was the only one. I stayed a total of 4 nights in a mixed dorm with 7other people. The people that were in my room made for great company and the staff has top notch. Keep in mind that this is a very well known hostel and I would recommend reserving a bed ahead of time.

    - Very secure place with cameras and reception

  • Directions: Exit Termini Station at Track 1. Make a left on Via Marsala, and then take your first right down Via Vicenza. Continue down Via Vicenza, until you reach #42. It will be on the left hand side of the street.

    It was amazing. Your near historic area. The collessioum & the trevi fountain were in walking distance. Theres a bunch of resturants down the block and around the corner. The train, the metro, busses are 2 blocks away. Theres a bunch of stands and shoppes around. So Hotel Alessandro is located in the heart of Rome.
    Your room is pretty of course you'll probably be sharing it with someone. The bathroom you have a shower and a toliet. The toliet is kewl, them accesories they have i know we dont have them in America unless your rich!
    They have pizza every friday night or sunday night. They also have a free cappuccino /hot choclate machine and its free from 8am to 11am. So make sure you get up early!
    They also have a flat screen tv in the bar down stairs. & you buy these tokens to get your drink its much cheaper that way.
    They also have a computer room. Where you can spend a lil money to get on the web.
    & one of the best things is theres a store right down the street where the have telephones it is soooo cheap to call the US. Make sure its the one with the computers in it.
    But the staff is great.
    I went there during an Italian holiday, and the staff and everyone; we all took cabs to this festival club. It was beautiful it was all outside.
    They also have a kitchen with a fridge and stove and everything!

    I deffiantly enjoyed my stay.

    You have a great view from your window. Its not like you seeing historic figures but your seeing the way room is, with the beautiful houses and roof tops.
    Theres a bar, no curfew, i believe all ages can stay there.

  • I found out about this hostel from your tips and I have to say you all "Thanks"!!
    The only problem I had with them is that they ask the credit card for the reservation and I had to ask help to VT ARoman! But all boys I spoke with were very nice and helpful.
    The hostel is very near to the Termini Station, all roads are very well lit up. Obviously, if you arrive at the station late in the evening, pay attention to your luggages because people are not at heir best.
    The hostel has no curfew!
    We stayed in a mixed dorm with the bath and shower inside and spent 30 euro each per night.

    They have Internet Access with 3,00 euro per hour.
    Bring with you a lock to use the lockers.
    From 730 to 10 they offer breakfast with bread,butter and jams, juices, milk and cornfalkes, tea and the machine for all kind of coffees.
    The Metro station is quite near but you can easily get to the centre by foot as we did...it's a very good way to descover the city.

  • I spent 4 nights here in February 2008. The hostel has a good location 5-10 mins walk from Termini which is really convienient for arriving/departing and also if you want to use the Metro for getting around. The room (I was in 11, a 6bed ensuite dorm) was fairly small but it was clean as was the bathroom. The only thing was that it was next to the stairs and it did get a little noisy when people were coming back late at night but it wouldnt stop me staying here again.
    The hostels best facility is the bar which at the time I was there had a happy hour with free Sangria. To pay for drinks you must get tokens from the machine, most things seemed to be about 3 tokens (€3). Reception was helpful and there were several computers which you could pay for internet access.
    There are several restaurants in the immediate area - my favourite was Bistro Angela just round the corner. I travelled on my own and had read several things about Termini area that made me a little nervous but I certainly had no problems walking to & from the train station even later at night.

    Overall a good, clean hostel and its great for meeting others.

    This place is clean and safe (security lockers are available), and there is 24 hour reception so no curfew/lockout.

    There is free breakfast, though the milk is often warm and there isn't much variety. Also, the breakfast only goes till a certain hour in the morning (I think it's 11am but I can't remember...). In the evenings there is also free pizza. Both of these are in the hostel bar/common room. The bar opens in the evening and you can buy tokens for drinks.

    It's easy to meet people thanks to the bar, of all the hostels I've stayed in, this was one of the most "social" ones. Also, my dorm mates were friendly and so were the staff.

    There is internet available but you have to pay. No elevator, but the stairs are wide enough to allow you to carry a suitcase up without any problems. The hostel itself is in a nice central location close to Termini.

    This hostel is more luxurious than average and worth the higher price. Also, I especially liked that it was easy to meet people and socialize there.

    This hostel is one of the best hostels in rome, i stayed there for 5 nights in a 10 bed mixed room and i must say that the rooms were very clean, maybe the bathroom wasnt that clean but what do u expect when 10 people share the same bathroom?? the staff has been very helpful and nice from the first day, the hostel is very easy to find just follow the directions on their site. ps: always reserve ur bed long time before your arrival, through, www.hostelsworld.com or www.hostelz.com, this hostel is always full! i paid 22 euros per night.

    the bed sheets are free, theres a bar in the hostel, a very small one but very active with outgoing people, even if u go there alone u'll always find someone to sit and socialise with, they hold a pizza party 3 times a week at the bar, the pizza isnt that good but the atmosphere is great, free breakfast everyday with bread, jams, butter, cornflakes and as much as u want of italian coffees and hot chocolate. They have an excellent security system, once you arrive they give you a key card for your room, i used to leave my suitcase open in the room when i went out and no one stole not even a bar of snickers from it! plus they have cameras everywhere so whatever you do yo are always watched plus if you arrive at night the guy on the reception comes to open the door for you.

  • Stayed there for 3 nights in an all girls dorm and then for 1 night in a mixed one. Rooms were fine, bar was ok (I'm picky when it comes to bars and their variety of stock -and I know I shouldn't expect too much from a hostel bar -but still, this was pitiful, but again I'm picky).
    No free Internet, breakfast I never woke up for in time once so I wouldn't know -but it was included in the price. Nice people working there, offered a lot of information about everything (doing their job well basically).
