This is not a place to party and dance but something for people who love wine and talking. Every time I go to this enoteca I meet interesting people living in this neigbourhood and learn something new about life in Rome. They offer a wide selection of italian wines by the glass and the bottle and also have a small menue. Leave a Comment Theme: Eating and DrinkingAddress: Via dei Serpenti, 19 |
Ok, so this pic is not from Monte Testaccio, but it's the only 'rome by night' pic i took. Anyway, when it comes to nightlife Testaccio is THE happening place in Rome. It's a rather dilapitated neighborhood in the southern part of town (around the old abbatoire) which gives the area a slightly Bohemian feel, but Testaccio offers options for all tastes and wallets. From ultra chic music bars with nasty bouncers to alternative open-air clubs, from fancy eateries to 'world music'-cafés.

Things really get going in Rome on a Saturday night when the young Romans go out to enjoy themselves in all kinds of discos, pubs, beer gardens, laid back bars and late night restaurants. Many of the nightspots offer a surprisingly huge variety of choice. It is relatively easy to find cocktail bars, which serve beer or which also have a dance floor or offer the chance to surf the Internet, as well as discos that offer live music evenings and also have a selection of games. Café Many of the cafés are open until late at night, giving the opportunity to spend a relaxing evening there chatting over a drink and listening to background music. The most popular and liveliest cafés are in Via Veneto, in the area around the Pantheon, in Piazza Navona; Bar del Fico and Bar della Pace are recommended, and in the lively, colourful Trastevere quarter. There are also many late night wine bars, which tend to be laid-back, informal and welcoming. These are great places to have a snack while sipping some excellent wine, which is always available at the Trimani Il Wine Bar, at the Cul de Sac in Piazza Navona or Cavour 313, or Spiriti at the Pantheon.
Pubs and beer gardens Always popular, the style and furnishings of the numerous beer gardens in Rome are mainly inspired by English, Scottish and Irish pubs. The enormous variety of beer, food specialities from Central Europe and across the Channel, as well as the live music, attracts a huge number of customers of all ages. There is also the chance to play darts, listen to good music or live concerts and involve yourself in a role-playing game, in places such as the Marconi beer garden, the Four Green Fields, Fiddlers Elbow, the Santi Apostoli beer garden and the Victoria House. Live Music There are an increasing number of places offering live music from Italian, American, English and African and South American groups. The most successful venues are concentrated in certain areas such as the Testaccio quarter, which offers the best choice of live music in places like Akab, Caffé Latino, Caruso and Radio Londra. The Trastevere quarter is the home of the historic Big Mama and the Alexanderplatz and Berimbau in Trionfale are also recommended. Leave a Comment Theme: Other |

If you want a walk on Rome's wild side, all you need to do is sign up for the pub crawl. Any of the major Rome hostels have tickets for the "festivities." It includes a short walking tour of a few of Rome's attractions, a guide/host, entrance into 4 bars, each with a free shot and reduced price drinks. All in all, it is a great way to meet young people from all over the world, and basically to drink. Can be fun, especially if its your birthday!
Normally, I blow by this bit, but it IS Italy. Without a doubt you can dress up for the occasion and still feel scrubby compared to the locals, or you can dress like all the other tourists and at least be comfortable while the locals laugh at you. Your choice. Leave a Comment Theme: Nightclub |
This was one of the bars that I went to on my pub crawl. This one I actually remember, whihc says alot. It has a small dance area, I guess the norm in Roma, and has great drinks served by good looking people. It has only a few places to sit, but with all the dancing goingon, you pretty much suck if you are sitting. I will say that I learned a valuable Italian slang saying about how I became later on that night. The saying is either: "Andiamo Ensieme" or more appropriately, "Vado Ensieme". When you are drunk, you are like two different people. The one who got drowned under all the liquor a long time ago and the one that everyone is laughing at at this moment. When you are drunk and you pass out, my Italian friends say "I go together", or "We go together" if everyone in the whole group is drunk. I am pretty sure that I misspelled those, but I was taught very well how to say them! Leave a Comment Theme: Nightclub |

This Square [ Rectangle really ] has a couple of fountains and was once one of the [ smaller ] places where chariot racing took place. I won't give you names of clubs or cafes. I'll just say two main things: You definitely must see Rome at night!!! What an experience!!! So: 1. You should get a taxi to the Monte Mario (Mario hill) , which is also called by some locals Collina degli innamorati, that is the lovers' hill. However, it is really widely known as Lo Zodiaco. There is a marvellous view from that hill at night. To get there you must ask the taxi driver for Monte Mario (or Viale del Parco Mellini) or il Ristorante Lo Zodiaco which is the restaurant on top of the hill. 2. For really beautiful views one can go to Pincio, above the Piazza del Popolo. 3. Also an old caffe, called "Casina Valadier", if I'm not mistaken in the Piazza Bucarest.
