 | Rome Airports from/to Rome Reviews | Tips 111 - 116 of 116 | | Ciampino Airport is Rome's secondary airport. From this airport you can take many domestic flights. You can also find many of the European economy airlines there. This airport is where the very cheap Ryan air flies out of. via Appia Nuova 1651, 00040 Roma Leave a Comment Theme: AirplanePhone: +39 06 65951Website: www.adr.it |
Fiumicino Airport is Rome's main international airport. Chances are, you will fly into Fiumicino. From the airport, getting into Rome is fairly easy. You can take a cab (which is expensive) or take a train. The trains are cheap and easy and go right to Termini Station (train station) in central Rome. From Termnini you can either take a cab to your hotel or take a public bus. Leave a Comment Theme: AirplanePhone: (+39 06) 65951Website: www.adr.it/ |
Ok, there are two main airports. Ciampino airport is a little bit out the town, but there's a bus leaving at least once in an hour to the center of Rome (right to the main Termini station from where you can take all the metro lines and busses). The bus stands in front of the airport, the ticket you can buy inside the airport. it costs about 6 euros, if my memory isn't cheating on me. It's also not a regular bus ticket that you'd be buying for other buses in Rome, so ask the ticket exacly for that bus. Wanting to come back from Rome to Ciampino imagine that you go out the Termini station, you are facing the bus station, bus to Ciampino does not stand in the main bus station. go towards right, pass the street, bus to Ciampino stops there, the tickets you can buy in a hotel next to that bus stop. Since I was travelling alone, i did not want to mess with the train. I used the Airport Shuttle upon departure which was moderately priced and very convenient. (Upon arrival I used the convenient Airport Connection service, but they incorrectly charged me twice on my credit card.) The Metro was easy to use as well as the Bus. I just forgot to buy a ticket at the kiosk before boarding the bus, so actually I rode for free (oops). It was easy to take the bus near my hotel from Torre Argentina to the Vatican Museum. So my advice would be that especially if you are not staying near a metro stop, it is definitely worth your while to become familiar with the bus routes if you don't feel like spending money on taxis. For budget travellers, there is a cheaper way to reach the central train station 'Roma Termini' from Fiumincino Airport. You have to change train once and that is very easy. Instead of taking direct "Leonardo Express" from Fiumincino airport ( one way ticket: 9.5 euros), take Metropolitan train FR1 direction Fara Sabina (one way ticket: 5 euros). It runs frequently and even on sundays (check www.adr.it). Travelling time is 25 minutes, get down at the 7th train station (Tuscolana). Walk down the stairs and exit the station. Take the road "Via Gela" in front of you, walk for about 4 minutes straight till you come across "Ponte Lungo" Metro station (symbol M). You have to take metro A direction Battistini (ticket valid for 75 minutes: 1 euro). Travelling time is 8 minutes, its 5th stop is Roma Termini. All the journey from the airport to Termini station takes around 40 minutes and you save 3.5 euros. (Do not forgot to valide your ticket with yellow machines installed on the station). |

We arrived at Leonardo Da Vinci airport and took the train to Termini Station for 9,50 euro each. We had very heavy luggage which made it a bit difficult to walk with but the train was fast and comfortable. Once we got to Termini we were exhausted and took a cab to our hotel. The rest of the stay we only used public transportation with no taxis and both thought that the transportation in Rome is amazing. We never waited more than 10 minutes for anything and could get anywhere in the city. Leave a Comment Theme: Train |
