I have used the E-Class Benz car service to and from the airport for 44 Euro this is for 1 or 2 persons and also used the Van when there were 4 of us. Thay have excellent prices and I like their service too! Leave a Comment |

Leonardo da Vinci International Airport (Fiumicino) is the main Roman airport and is about 29 kilometers (18 miles) by road from Rome. Taxis are expensive and the bus takes forever. There is a better way. The direct train! It is called the LEONARDO EXPRESS and it leaves every 30 minutes from the Airport. Non-stop and a gentle 35 minute ride straight to Termini Train Station. Termini is the central train AND metro station. It just could not be easier! It leaves and arrives at gates 28/29 (pictured) in Termini. There is no need to pre-book the journey from the airport! Just claim your bags at your terminal and follow the signs for the train. Tickets are on sale before you board. Easy. At Termini: Allow a good 10 minutes to walk to gate 28/29. It is on the far right hand side and a very long walk to get there. Enjoy Rome! It was the first time I booked a flight with Ryanair. It was supposed to leave at 10.10am on a cold and snowy Tuesday morning. After waiting an hour. It was announced that the flight is cancelled due to some technical problems. The next one was at 7.50pm. So we changed the reservation on the evening plan as well as the flight back. The worst was that we had to kill many many hours on a small airport (Hahn, for me just in the middle of nowhere) where there is nothing to do .... Leave a Comment |
Located about 30 minutes away from the city center, Fiumicino is the major international airport hub of Rome. Basically, you can get anywhere and come from anywhere when traveling from or to this airport. FCO was only built in 1961. Up until that point Ciampino, the other and still functioning airport of Rome, was the city's principal airport. Now, Ciampino has been relagated to mainly domestic and a few international flights. Every half hour there is a non stop train between the Fiumicino International Airport (also know as Leonardo da Vinci Airport) and the city. This line is called the Leonardo da Vinci Express. It travels to the Termini Station. In front of this station many busses leave for other areas in the city. The metro also travels from here. The train ride will take about 30 minutes for the 33 kilometer the airport is located from Rome. It costed us (in january 2004) 9,50 Euro per person, one way trip. But a taxi to the city centre will cost approx 45 Euro. Leave a Comment Theme: Train |
The airport shuttles are run by two bus companies which take you from Ciampino to Via Marsala beside Termini station. The Terravision bus costs 7euro each way or 12euro return The SIT bus costs 6euro each way (I think it is 10euro return). Get on the bus if you are at the stop - don't put your bag on and hang around having a smoke - the bus driver might just leave without you!! We watched as five tourists had to unload their bags because they hadn't boarded quickly enough and the bus driver was leaving a few minutes late. Leave a Comment Theme: Bus |

We flew BA into Fiumicino Airport or Leonardo da Vinci Airport to give it its other name. Its a great modern clean airport - the floor shines with reflections! - one of the best i have been in. Easy connections are available into the centre of Rome by a linked railway. Theme: Airplane |
