 | Venice Pigeons Reviews | Tips 1 - 10 of 42 | | Piazza San Marco is one of the most magnificent squares in Italy....the only downside is the huge number of pigeons here!! Tourists are the ones that feed them....and let these rats with wings climb all over them....eeeuuuuwwww!! Be warned, when you visit the Piazza you are in grave danger of being pooed on by a pigeon....one may even land on you if you are really lucky...not. They especially like people with bald heads! Please don't feed them....the pigeons I mean! Leave a Comment

I had no problem with those lovely (well...) birds, but I think others might have. At the Piazza San Marco they are everywhere, since a lot of tourist gives them food. The next problem is that the food has to come out sometimes too, and for the birds it's not so important how or where, as long as it hit someone... Watch out for the *** from the sky that is... :-) There might also be a problem when they fly away, all of them at the same time. But since they aren't blind I suppose the best thing to do is to just stay still. They don't want to hit you more than you want to hit them. Leave a Comment

Everybody knows about the pigeons in St. Mark's Square, and some criticize those who buy the seed to feed them, saying it only causes the problem of birds to worsen. What people don't know is that the problem of too many birds has gotten a lot better than they once were. The seed sold at the stands actually contains birth control that helps control the over-population of pigeons. You can purchase a bad of seed for 1 Euro. Be aware that feeding the pigeons anything other than the seed purchased is illegal and you can be fined if caught. Leave a Comment

No metter of its indisputable beauty, Venice can make you feel uncomfortable. When stroling around you might be choked by very bad odour, coming out from chanels network, especially if those short and narrow. There are places in the city where this bad odour is almost unbearable. Another danger are thousands of pigeons (flying mouses), which are "bombing" us from above and there is nothing you can do about. Leave a Comment

Well while not exactly in the same league as cows, a flock of pigeons who do nothing but eat all day long every day, can make an impressive mess on your head, that is why the old saying "thank god cows don't fly". Tal has put her hat on for two reasons, one is to provide a perch for the birds to land, the other is to prevent a smelly mess on her head...^O^ Leave a Comment

Sometimes a surprise comes from above :) not, it's not a "common" rain, it's something worst... so, pay attention expecially in Saint Mark's Square. Also because now - you can see the spikes on the light in the pic - pigeons on palaces and monuments are not so welcome here eheh... Leave a Comment

No joking!!! These pigeons can be a danger! As soon as you buy a package of food, stand on this spot on the San Marco Square, they are all over you! Nope I didn't try, hahaha, I just stood there laughing at the people that attempted it. The pigeons were very stubborn, and they didn't want to let go of you, if they had the slightest idea that you still had some food hiding somewhere. Leave a Comment

Watch out the pigeons in Venice. There are millions. Specially near Piazza di San Marco. People keep feeding them and they won't fly away. They are not scared by people anymore. There is pigeon sh*t everywhere, the monuments are covered and damaged by it. Leave a Comment

The pidgeons are everywhere! For some strange reason, it's a big touristy thing to do, to buy feed for them. It's for sale by vendors right in the square. As soon as some unsuspecting "feeder" opens their little bag of seed, these guys swarm around them. I have seen them land on peoples arms, shoulders and even their heads. I would think this would be most unsanitary. I wouldn't want to spend any amount of time with pidgeon poop on my person.... Leave a Comment

Watch out ! they are everywhere its like walking through a sea of feathers, they are fearless and they expect you to feed them people were covering themselves in them ! with the rise of Avian Flu cases I wonder will people still do this, at the best of times they are incredibly dirty birds and carry germs, and should be avoided by people with respiratory problems perhaps its best to keep away from them for a while, at least you wont have to wash all your clothes to get rid of the smelly pigeon poop Leave a Comment
