Personally, W is my favorite place to go dining and dancing. It is considered one of the more exclusive nightime establishments in Montevideo. It's not uncommon to see many local celebrities and models there. There are various areas which play different types of music. I highly recommend checking it out. Very stylish and trendy |

The Ciudad Vieja, in Montevideo, has recently become the center of the city's nightlife. The main street are lined up with great restaurants, bars and nightclubs. It is amazing how is has expanded in recent years. Dressing up a bit always helps, but really, anything goes. |

You can listen and dance Tango with professional dancer....Nice people, always welcoming you. The bar has a wonderful romantic story : opposite the old jail, a young lady used to live in a flat above the bar and became in love with one of the prisoner whom she saw everyday in the courtyard of the prison. When he finished his time in jail, they married, bought the bar and dance tango for ever......... Nice..........true or false, no important. casual |

Each summer, the nighlife in Cuchilla Alta changes. It seems that every year there is a new "in" place to hang out. However, chances are that the following year it won't be around (sometimes for financial reasons, other times due to a shift in clientel) and that there will be a new "in" place to go to. Year to year, the atmosphere changes. If you happen to hit a boring year, you can always check out the nightlife in nearby Atlantida and Piriapolis. Since these are much bigger resort towns, you have a lot of bars, nightclubs and discos to choose from. Back in Cuchilla Alta, the one place that is likely to be open year after year is the local Nautical Club. In recent years, it has attracted quite a young crowd on the weekends in the summer. I'd say the average age range there is 14-19. If you don't mind hanging with the kiddies, it can actually be fun (after several liters of beers, that is). Lots of cumbia, rock nacional and popular Brazilian music. And if dancing isn't quite your thing, you can stay at the main bar, play pool, or drink a beer and have a pizza (with faina! mmmm) on the outdoor balcony. Whatever you want to wear.....since this is your typical Uruguayan "balneario", jeans and a nice top are fine. |

Almost every day in the week you can go to Bacacay street and find a variety of Restaurants, Pubs and Night Clubs. REALLY GREAT. Whatever you like. Cassual. |

Just as in Buenos Aires, Montevideo and Rio de Janiero the night social activities tend to start late in the evening in small cities of Uruguay so do not be fooled by empty restaurants etc. at 9:30 PM on a Saturday night. Casual dressy. |

There are two clubs in Colonial. 'El Pueblo Viaje' is for younger people, from 16 over! And there is another club i forgot the name, but they check your ID strictly. if you are over 18, you can get in any clubs basically. In Montevideo, must go 'Lounge,' it has two floors and nice atomosphere. there are some clubs along Punta de Este, mostly more expensive to get in and lots of Argentinas from Buenos Aires. most clubs on Urugay get peak from mognight to 2. and they work till 6am. after 2am, they play Salsa. some Americans get sick of this but those latinas get more excited when they move with Salsa misic. if you have time, practice Salsa. They dance very well. |

heterosexuals try 'WEST' Francisco Bauza & Luis Alberto de Herrera St 'MARIACHI' is another place to be on Saturday and Sunday, plenty of latino, salsa, live bands and nice drinks. Gays: you got a few places to go around the city area 'Espejismo' at 872 Jackson St, nice small place with drag queen shows, everyday open from 1.00pm 'Escape Pub' every day from 21hs Rivera St 2465 Ph 094492505 Otherwise you can always try a really mix Pub call 'Millenium' at Juan Carlos Gomez St you going out around 1.00am, take a bus there or a taxi and have a really good night out, plenty of music, latino music and great Uruguayan bands like 'Monterrojo', 'Chocolate, ' Los Nietos', get a Cd of them!!!! very casual, jeans are really on fashion!!! |
